My name is Beverly Escuder and I am a curvy seamstress.
I have been sewing since the age of 5 when my grandmother took me under her wing. I loved making my own clothes when I was young and have the horrible 80’s photos to prove it! Then puberty hit and my body got all kinds of curves that threw off my sewing game. Too many times, I spent hours creating a test garment for my dream outfit only to have it end up crumpled in the trash because it didn’t fit. All that precious sewing time wasted! I got so frustrated that I even gave up on sewing for myself for a few years. I made curtains, pillows, children’s clothes, quilts, ANYTHING, as long as it wasn’t for me and my “problem” body.
When I grew tired of wearing the frumpy, sad fashions available in the plus-size department, I knew I had to get back to sewing for myself and master fitting my curves once and for all. I learned to make a custom dress form, which revolutionized my sewing. I was finally able to make the clothes that I love to wear, even with my post-baby, middle-aged, chocolate loving figure.
Now I help other women do the same. In addition to group sewing classes and private lessons, I teach workshops on how to make a custom dress form because it’s such a game changer for mastering fit. I also teach project based classes from time to time where everyone in the class makes the same garment, such as a knit dress or woven tank top.
I want every curvy woman on the planet to have the ability to make beautiful, well fitting clothes for themselves if they want!
